TechBridge Wants Area Nonprofits to Share Their Technology Dreams |
ATLANTA; Dec. 9, 2008. In today's tough economic climate, how can a cash-strapped nonprofit accomplish a comprehensive technology makeover? The answer could be simple - just ask. TechBridge, a nonprofit that provides professional, affordable technology services to other nonprofits, today announced new eligibility guidelines for its 2009 Technology Innovation Award. The award, sponsored by Accenture, has previously gone to nonprofits that have successfully implemented strategic technology projects. This year, however, the award will be presented to a Georgia nonprofit with an unfulfilled technology vision. The winner of the 2009 award will receive over $55,500 in TechBridge services, Microsoft software and cash to implement the proposed project. Additionally, two finalists will each receive awards valued in excess of $11,500 in TechBridge services, Microsoft software and cash. The winner and finalists will participate in the Technology Innovation Award presentation during TechBridge's Digital Ball,(r), which hosts more than 1,200 of Atlanta's most influential technology and business leaders. Award recipients will also receive coverage of their work and technology projects in industry-leading publications. For the eighth consecutive year, Accenture is sponsoring TechBridge's consulting services and cash grants, and Microsoft will provide the software through TechBridge's affiliation with the NPower Network. "We know that creativity and ingenuity run deep in the nonprofit community," said TechBridge CEO, Kathleen Kurre. "It is always exciting to see what happens when nonprofit ingenuity meets technology know-how and opportunity. The outcome will be inspirational." Examples of potentially award-winning project ideas may include: • Improving web presence and functionality to more effectively interact with volunteers, donors and other stakeholders; "Technology has the power to transform society for the better," said Craig Ramsey, managing director of Accenture's Atlanta office. "TechBridge helps deserving and innovative nonprofits realize their technology visions and increase their impact in our community. We encourage nonprofits that want to improve their overall efficiency and effectiveness by updating their technology infrastructure -- and/or implementing web-based technologies - to apply for this valuable award." All entries for the Technology Innovation Award are due February 3, 2009. Applications, eligibility information and complete award details may be found at www.techbridge.org.
